Getting started questions

You can download the Free version of My Lichess Online Analyzer from the Download & Pricing page of this website. The same page also lets you purchase a Pro license and download the Pro installer once your payment is completed.

MyLOA is a desktop application. Check the Technical Details & Requirements section on the Features page for the current list of supported operating systems, minimum RAM, disk space, and any additional dependencies. In general, you should be able to run MyLOA on a modern computer that can comfortably run Lichess or chess.com in a browser.

First, head over to the official Oracle website to download the latest version of Java for Mac. Just click on the download link for macOS, and it will start downloading a .dmg file. Once it's downloaded, double-click on the file to open it, then follow the prompts to install Java on your computer. It's super straightforward! After installation, you can verify that everything's working by opening the Terminal and typing `java -version`. If you see the version number pop up, you’re all set to dive into your chess analysis!

Installing Java on your Linux machine is a breeze! If you’re using a Debian-based distro like Ubuntu, just fire up your terminal and run `sudo apt update` followed by `sudo apt install java-default-jre`, and you’ll be all set. For RedHat-based systems like Fedora or CentOS, use `sudo dnf install java-1.8.0-openjre` for the OpenJDK version. Once that’s done, you can check if it’s installed correctly by typing `java -version` in the terminal. And voilà, you’re ready to dive into My Lichess Online Analyzer!

Download the installer from the Download & Pricing page, then run it and follow the on-screen steps. When the installation finishes, start MyLOA from your applications menu or desktop. If you purchased Pro, you will be asked to enter your license key on first launch or via the activation dialog.

The Free version focuses on bulk analysis of your Lichess games, while Pro adds support for importing and analyzing chess.com games as well. Both versions analyze your openings, group them by ECO code, and show move frequency and quality. Pro may also receive some advanced features earlier than Free.

MyLOA receives updates when there are important bug fixes, performance improvements, or new features. Major updates are announced on the Blog page in the Release Notes category, and you can check the website periodically for the latest version.
Importing games FAQ

In Lichess, open your profile and go to your games export page. Choose the time range and filters you want, select PGN format, and download the file. Then, in MyLOA, use the Import or Add Games function to select that PGN file and start the import.

With a Pro license, you can use chess.coms game export tools to download your games as PGN files. Go to your chess.com archive, select the games you want, and export them. Then import that PGN file into MyLOA just like a Lichess export. Exact steps may differ slightly depending on chess.com updates.

MyLOA primarily supports PGN files for imports. In many cases, you can also load zipped PGN archives as long as they are not extremely large. Very big files may take longer to process or may need to be split into smaller chunks for smoother imports.

There is no hard limit built into MyLOA for the number of games, but performance and memory usage depend on your computer. For very large databases, we recommend importing in batches by time period or by player to keep analysis fast and responsive.

First, confirm that your PGN file actually contains games and is not empty or corrupted. Then check that you selected the correct file and that it is not password-protected. If imports still fail, try a smaller subset of games. For persistent issues, please report a bug and include the problematic file or a small sample.
Analysis options and performance

In MyLOA you can set how many moves into the game should be considered part of the opening. A typical range is 10 to 15 moves per side, but you may adjust this depending on your goals. Shorter depths are faster and focus on early mistakes, while longer depths show more detailed repertoires.

You can usually filter games by time control, color, rated vs unrated, and date ranges. This lets you, for example, analyze only your rapid games as White from the last three months. Using filters keeps reports focused and makes analysis faster.

To keep analysis smooth, limit the number of games in each run, reduce the opening depth if you only need a high-level view, and close other heavy applications while MyLOA is working. On weaker machines, it is often better to analyze a few thousand games at a time instead of your entire history at once.

If an analysis run is taking longer than expected, you can usually stop it from within the MyLOA interface. The games analyzed up to that point will still be available in the current session. To re-run with different settings, adjust your filters and depth, then start a new analysis.
Results and reports FAQ

ECO codes are a standardized way to label chess openings, from A00 to E99. MyLOA groups your games by ECO code so you can quickly see which openings you play most often, where your results are strong or weak, and which lines you might want to study first.

Move frequency tells you how often you or your opponents choose a particular move in a position. Quality metrics, such as engine evaluation changes or blunder counts, indicate how good those moves are. Together they show which moves are popular but risky and which strong moves you might be missing in practice.

Charts and tables summarize your openings by win rate, performance by ECO code, and typical mistakes. Hover over data points or table rows for more detail. Use these views to spot patterns, such as a specific opening where your score is consistently lower than in others.

Start by identifying your most frequently played openings with below-average results or many serious mistakes. Then, focus your study time on those lines using your preferred opening books or online resources. After some training, re-run MyLOA on new games to check whether your scores and mistake rates have improved.
Opening books FAQ

MyLOA can work with its own opening data as well as additional book files that are compatible with the formats it supports. The exact list of supported formats is documented on the website and may expand over time as new book options are added.

Professional opening books for MyLOA are sold through the Shop and Download & Pricing pages. Choose the books you want, complete the purchase, and you will receive download links or instructions to access the book files after payment is confirmed.

After downloading a book file, open MyLOA and use the menu option to add or manage opening books. Select the file from your computer and confirm. To update a book, install the new version and, if needed, remove or archive the older one inside the MyLOA interface.

Opening books provide reference lines and evaluations that you can compare with the moves actually played in your games. MyLOA helps you see where your practice follows or deviates from recommended lines, so you can decide which variations to adopt or replace in your repertoire.
Licensing FAQ

You can buy a Pro license directly from the Download & Pricing page. Select the Pro option, follow the checkout steps, and complete payment. A license key and download information will be sent to the email address you provide during purchase.

After installing MyLOA Pro, open the program and enter your license key when prompted, or use the activation menu. Make sure you are connected to the internet during activation so the license can be validated successfully.

Licenses are generally intended for use on a limited number of personal devices. If you need to move MyLOA to a new machine, uninstall it from the old one and then install and activate it on the new computer. If activation fails, contact support with your license key and a short explanation.

If you lose your license key or can no longer access the email you used for purchase, contact us with any details you still have about the order, such as approximate date, name, and payment method. We will do our best to locate your purchase and help you restore access.
Troubleshooting FAQ

First, make sure you downloaded MyLOA from the official website. Temporarily pausing real-time scanning during installation can help in some cases, but only if you are confident the file is safe. If the problem persists, add an exception for MyLOA in your security software or contact your antivirus vendor for clarification, then let us know via the bug report form.

Check that your PGN file actually contains games and that it is not a text file with only comments or headers. Avoid extremely large or corrupted files and, if needed, split your exports into smaller ranges. If imports still fail, send us a short description and, if possible, a small sample file so we can reproduce the issue.

Crashes or freezes can be caused by very large game sets, insufficient memory, or unexpected data formats. Try running a smaller batch of games and reducing opening depth. If the issue continues, please submit a bug report that includes your MyLOA version, operating system, and details about the games you were analyzing.

Use the Bug Report page whenever you experience crashes, data errors, or anything that clearly looks like a software defect. Use the Contact form for general questions, feedback, or licensing and payment issues. Both forms go to the same team, but bug reports help us gather the technical details we need to fix problems faster.
